Green Drinks Morehead City
June 25 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Green Drinks is a casual monthly gathering for people who care about our coast. Whether you enjoy boating, beach days, or simply want to keep our waters clean and our communities strong, this is a relaxed space to connect with others, hear from local voices, and stay up to date on important coastal topics. Each month, we’ll highlight a different issue—like salt marsh restoration, oysters, or local happenings that impact the coast—and talk about how we can work together to protect the places we all enjoy. Grab a drink from the bar and join the conversation—these events are free and open to the public.

June’s Speaker | Jacqueline Staab

This month, we are welcoming Jacqueline Staab, founder of Darwin’s Bee Dogs, a conservation detection dog company dedicated to supporting pollinator research and habitat conservation. With a background in ecology, pollinator biology, and canine scent detection, Jacqueline has developed innovative methods for training dogs to locate bumblebee nests in the wild—an important but often challenging task for researchers studying native bee populations. Her work has taken her across the United States, collaborating with researchers to better understand native bumblebee populations and the habitats they depend on
Jacqueline will speak about the growing role of conservation detection dogs in wildlife research and how these remarkable canine partners are helping advance pollinator conservation. She’ll share stories from the field, insights into training detection dogs, and examples of how their work is supporting scientists and conservation efforts nationwide.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of pollinator conservation, the fascinating science behind scent-detection dogs, and the critical role native bumblebees play in healthy ecosystems. They’ll also learn how innovative partnerships between people, dogs, and science are helping make conservation research more effective, accessible, and engaging for communities across the country.
