The North Carolina Coastal Federation is the state’s only nonprofit organization focused exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy, and habitat restoration and preservation. Formed in 1982, the Federation focuses on three main program areas: habitat restoration and protection; environmental education; and the encouragement of sound environmental rules and regulations and their enforcement.
The Federation’s headquarters is located in Ocean. It also maintains field offices in Wrightsville Beach and Wanchese.

Oyster Program Director
The North Carolina Coastal Federation seeks an Oyster Program Director in our Northeast Office located in Wanchese, North Carolina. Considerations may be made for work in the Southeast Office located in Wrightsville Beach, NC or the Federation Headquarters located in Newport, NC.
Job Summary:
The Oyster Program Director leads the North Carolina Coastal Federation’s oyster restoration and management efforts across coastal North Carolina. This position combines strategic program leadership with on-the-ground coastal science. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing projects that advance oyster restoration, policy, education, and community engagement. They supervise program staff, coordinate multi-partner initiatives, oversee project implementation, and help secure funding. The Oyster Program Director reports directly to the Chief Program Officer and plays a critical role in meeting the Federation’s annual goals for habitat restoration and water quality improvement.
