Coastal Carbon Connections: How Habitats Store Carbon

June 23 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm

Everyone is welcome to join us for our Southeast Coastal Ambassadors meeting to learn about blue carbon and the important role coastal habitats play in storing carbon. Southeast Coastal Ambassador Warren Darrell will share an introduction to blue carbon, including how coastal ecosystems like salt marshes, seagrasses, and oyster reefs capture and store carbon while supporting cleaner water, wildlife habitat, and more resilient shorelines.

After Warren’s presentation, Federation staff will share updates on coastwide restoration projects supported by the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant and how this work helps coastal habitats store carbon, improve water quality, support wildlife, and protect our coast.
