This summer, longtime Coastal Federation supporters Michael and Janie Serbousek have extended a generous matching challenge to support the Coastal Federation’s new Center for Coastal Protection and Restoration in Carteret County. 

“We are so inspired by what this new Center means for the coast and its communities,” shared Michael. “This will truly transform the Federation’s work coastwide, and we can’t wait to see the Center open this fall.”

As a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Michael is intimately familiar with the plans for the new Center, including of suite a new community programs and experiences for people of all ages, such as birding tours, seasonal festivals, youth education programs, collaborative workshops, and more. 

Janie, a former professor and leader in education reform, shares Michael’s enthusiasm. “Education is critical to preserve and restore the beautiful North Carolina Coast.  As a long-time educator, I am thrilled to help provide enhanced educational opportunities for the citizens of North Carolina with the Federation’s new Center”.
