The Coastal Federation is moving into the new Center for Coastal Protection and Restoration this summer! We’ll soon begin hosting new programs drawing on the various amenities on the grounds, the Education Classroom, and the Event Center.
Before we can dive in, we need to finish outfitting the Center, and we need your help!
While we are moving many functional items from our existing office over to the new Center, some of our current furnishings are on their last legs. Please explore our online “Wish List” of items needed to get this new Center up and running. It’s a gift registry for the coast! Your gift toward any of these items would be a great help! In some cases, we might end up purchasing a slightly different item based on availability.
The Wish List includes items for the:
Federation Lobby: The lobby of the Federation’s new headquarters will welcome guests with a comfortable reception area that includes a gift shop, seating, and displays about our coastal environment.
The Education Classroom: The Education Classroom will be a dynamic space for up to 30 students to explore nature through STEAM education programs. Located just off the main lobby, the classroom has its own exit to the courtyard, allowing students to easily step outside to explore the rain gardens, living shoreline, and other features just outside.
The Communal Workspace: The Communal Workspace is a flexible workspace in the middle of the headquarters, providing a place for staff to work while they are in the office, without having dedicated offices sitting empty when they are in the field. This welcoming space will support people working independently or in groups.
Federation Office Space: The Federation’s headquarters houses our largest concentration of staff, and includes dedicated offices for the Executive Director, as well as teams including development, communications, administration, and leadership staff for our program areas like Salt Marsh and Water Quality.
Coastal Conference Room: The Conference Room will provide a comfortable space for formal meetings, and will be fully wired to also support virtual meetings.
Office Kitchen: The staff kitchen in the Federation office will provide the basics for staff to store lunches, to support collaborative meetings in the conference room, to store student snacks and bag lunches, and to support small events in the Communal Work Area or for other organizations meeting in the classroom.
Event Center: The Event Center will host events of all types and sizes, and will be outfitted with chairs and tables that can be easily packed up to meet the needs of different events.
Event Preparation Room in the Event Center: The event preparation space, or Green Room, will be a comfortable space for event organizers to prepare for their event – perhaps a place to store supplies for a meeting, a room for a speaker to finalize their notes, or a retreat for a bridal party.
Catering Kitchen in the Event Center: The Event Center will host events for the Federation, partners, businesses, and private groups. The catering kitchen’s commercial-grade appliances will serve up to 500 people.
Technology Needs: The Center will use a few technological tools to advance our mission and support visitors.
Native Landscaping: The Center will feature native plants, which provide habitat and food for birds, pollinators, and wildlife. Native plants are adapted to the local conditions, making them low-maintenance and water-efficient.
A Few Basics: As with any move, there are a few basic items that are critical to getting all moved in and operational!
You can also choose to give toward a paver engraved in honor of yourself or a loved one, or make a general gift toward the Center. If you are considering a leadership gift, you might be interested in our naming opportunities, outlined here.
Gifts will be directed toward the capital campaign furnishing for the Center for Coastal Protection and Restoration. Gifts are tax-deductible and we will send you an acknowledgement of your gift for your tax records. Gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized in our Annual Report, and total giving to the Center of $10,000 or more will be recognized in a permanent installation honoring our campaign donors. You may also choose to give anonymously.
Please peruse the Wish List below to give online, or send a check to NC Coastal Federation, 3609 Highway 24, Newport NC, 28570, with a note listing the item(s) you’d like to support.
