
Oyster Program Director
Alyson Flynn is the Oyster Program Director at the North Carolina Coastal Federation, leading the organization’s work to restore oyster habitat, improve water quality, and support sustainable shellfish mariculture across North Carolina’s coast. She joined the Federation in 2022, previously serving as a Coastal Advocate and Environmental Economist, advancing policy, economic, and stakeholder engagement efforts to support science-based coastal management and restoration initiatives statewide.
Alyson holds an M.S. in Applied and Natural Resource Economics from East Carolina University and a B.S. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She achieved Ph.D. candidacy at ECU in 2014, where her research examined the economic implications of coastal management decisions in Dare County.
Alyson is a proud resident of Hatteras Island, where she has lived since 2017.
