Restore

You are here:
  1. Home
  2. Protect the Coast
  3. Restore

Our restoration efforts seek to return habitats to the condition that existed before it was degraded by natural (storms) or human activities. Once restored, the area can resume its normal ecological functions.

Working with community volunteers, students and contractors, we restore the North Carolina coast in a variety of ways — building oyster reefs, living shorelines, shorebird nesting rookeries and native coastal forests, just to name a few.

Learn more about what we do to restore and protect the coast and review some of our recent projects.
