Green Drinks Morehead City

April 23 @ 5:30 pm 7:30 pm

Green Drinks is a casual monthly gathering for people who care about our coast. Whether you enjoy boating, beach days, or simply want to keep our waters clean and our communities strong, this is a relaxed space to connect with others, hear from local voices, and stay up to date on important coastal topics. Each month, we’ll highlight a different issue—like salt marsh restorationoysters, or local happenings that impact the coast—and talk about how we can work together to protect the places we all enjoy. Grab a drink from the bar and join the conversation—these events are free and open to the public.

Who: Anyone who loves our coast!

What: A relaxed, come-as-you-are meetup featuring a new coastal topic each month

Where: Rooftop Bar at Jack’s on the Waterfront – 513 Evans St, Morehead City, NC 28557

When: One Thursday a month from 5:30–7:30 PM

This month, we are welcoming Randy Newman from North Carolina State Parks. Randy serves as the superintendent of Fort Macon State Park, where he has worked for over 40 years, beginning as a seasonal ranger and later becoming superintendent in 2009. Originally from Aurora, North Carolina, he studied Resource Management at East Carolina University. Fort Macon has long been home to Randy and his family, where he and his wife, Nicki, raised their four sons in and around the park.

Randy will speak on the park’s efforts to preserve and restore the historic Fort Macon and the management of its unique coastal habitats and wildlife. He’ll share insights from his decades of experience at Fort Macon, including his work to maintain the historic site and protect the diverse flora and fauna found within the park.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how State Parks contribute to coastal conservation and learn ways to support and engage with these important public lands, while also hearing personal perspectives from a lifelong steward of one of North Carolina’s most valued coastal resources.
