EarthWise Garden Workday
May 16 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Are you ready to get your hands dirty to help grow fresh vegetables that we share with our volunteer gardeners and community? Join us every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (feel free to come after work) for an enriching experience at EarthWise Farm in Ocean! As proud stewards of our coastal environment, the North Carolina Coastal Federation invites YOU to be a part of our dynamic community garden workdays.
🌿 What We Do: At EarthWise Farm, located near Bogue Sound in the community of Ocean in Carteret County, we embark on a journey of growth and sustainability. Together, we till the soil, nurture thriving plants, and tend to an array of vegetables, peanuts, and melons. From the robust flavors of squash and tomatoes to the crisp crunch of peppers and okra, our harvest reflects the bounty of our collective efforts.
🤝 Who We Are: Our garden workdays involve people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just discovering your green thumb, there’s a place for you in our EarthWise garden.
🌎 Why Join Us: By becoming a part of EarthWise Farm, you’re not just tending to plants – you’re nurturing connections and fostering a deeper bond with the land. Many kids have learned by tending the garden where their food comes—it is amazing how many people do not know that peanuts grow underground attached to roots, and that Bogue Sound watermelons are harvested from the sea! The three-acre property was donated to the Federation by the family of Ted and Sylvia Miller for educational and stewardship purposes, and as a member of the Federation you and your family have exclusive access to the garden.
📣 How to Get Involved: Ready to dig in? Contact Roger Mays at rmays52@yahoo.com to learn more about our garden workdays and discover how you can make a meaningful difference with EarthWise. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to cultivate change, one seed at a time!
Join us in sowing the seeds of sustainability and reaping the rewards of a greener tomorrow. See you in the garden! 🌻
