Save Rich Inlet Public Forum, Saturday, March 5, 2016

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – Join the Coastal Federation Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poplar Grove Historic Plantation, as we facilitate a public discussion on the proposal to build a terminal groin on Figure Eight Island. The Figure Eight Island Homeowners Association board of directors is currently pursuing permits to build at 1200 foot steel and rock wall at the north end of the Island that would limit public access.

The free event includes lunch and is sponsored by the Coastal Federation, Audubon N. C. and the Southern Environmental Law Center and features the following panelists:

  • Geoff Gisler, senior attorney, Southern Environmental Law Center
  • Walker Golder, deputy director, Audubon N.C.
  • Stan Riggs, coastal geologist, East Carolina University
  • Robert Young, director, Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines, Western Carolina University
