SUMMARY:Shoreline Cleanup at Gallants Channel
DESCRIPTION:Help us celebrate National Estuaries Month with a shoreline cleanup! Join the Coastal Federation in coordination with Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum to clean up shoreline along Gallants Channel in Beaufort.  \n\n\n\nVolunteers will meet at 293 West Beaufort Road Extension in Beaufort by 10 a.m.  \n\n\n\nPlease wear weather appropriate clothing that can get wet and dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Trash collection supplies\, water\, sunscreen and bug spray will be provided.  \n\n\n\nThis event is limited and is weather-dependent. SUMMARY:2026 Taste of the Coast Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join the North Carolina Coastal Federation for the Taste of the Coast Celebration\, a fabulous summer evening celebrating North Carolina’s beautiful and bountiful coast!  \n\n\n\nThis casual celebration will take place on Saturday\, September 12\, on the banks of Bogue Sound at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City.  \n\n\n\nThe festivities will include food and wine pairings\, fresh N.C. oysters (raw and steamed)\, live music\, a beautiful view of the sunset over the water\, and a wonderful group of coastal supporters!  \n\n\n\nBack again this year is the outstanding silent auction featuring the best of the coast\, from weekend trips\, boat tours\, artwork and more\, as well as live music\, local seafood\, and great company. Our auction will open on August 15\, with new items added every week! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets: \n\n\n\nTicket sales for the Taste of the Coast Celebration open. SUMMARY:Local Government ADV & Resilient Docks Workshop - Washington
DESCRIPTION:The NC Marine Debris Action Plan workshops will provide local governments in the 20 coastal counties with resources for implementing an inspection program for residential dock and piers\, and for developing and implementing a program/ordinance for abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs). \n\n\n\nHosted by the N.C  Coastal Federation and the N.C. Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve\, the workshops will be offered in two coastal locations\, on two separate dates for local governments\, agency partners\, marine contractors\, engineers\, community leaders and other interested individuals. \n\n\n\nThe workshops will provide participants opportunities to learn about and discuss:  \n\n\n\n-Incorporating Resilient Residential Docks and Piers into local building codes \n\n\n\n-Addressing ADVs through ordinances\, the state program and accessing support \n\n\n\n-Engagement opportunities through the N.C. Marine Debris Action Plan: 2026-30 \n\n\n\n-Resources\, guides and “Tool-Kits” for adopting and implementing their own programs \n\n\n\nContinuing education credits available: \n\n\n\n-American Institute of Certified Planners\, 4 Certification Maintenance credits: Wilmington\, ID 9332178; Washington\, ID 9332180 \n\n\n\n-Certificate of Participation\, 4 hours\, provided to self-file for other professional credits such as engineer PDHs \n\n\n\nPanel discussions will feature local and regional stakeholders sharing real-world experiences\, implementation challenges\, lessons learned\, and opportunities for continued collaboration. \n\n\n\nLunch will be provided\, along with coffee and light refreshments in the morning. Full or partial mileage reimbursements may be available.
