Sunrise Yoga & Sailing Eco-Adventures
September 16, 2017 @ 6:15 am - 10:30 am
Robards Nautical LLC and Island Wellness bring you yoga with a coastal conservation and sailing ecoadventure to benefit the North Carolina Coastal Federation. This morning event offers a chance to sail, learn about salt marsh ecosystems and do yoga. The first one takes place Sept. 16, starting at 6:15 a.m.
Agenda: Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning September 16. Starting times will vary with sunrise. Return times are approximate depending on winds and tides.
6:15 a.m.: Arrive at Joyner Marina in Carolina Beach between 6:15-30 SHARP. Parking is behind a locked gate so you won’t otherwise have access. We’ll cross a private boardwalk over a salt marsh to the beach at first light.
6:45 a.m.: Sun Salutations/Surya Namaskara yoga on the beach during sunrise over the sea with a local, certified yoga teacher.
7:45 a.m.: Return to the marina. John Robards, federation Coastal Ambassador and Robards Nautical LLC founder, will lead a discussion about salt marsh ecosystems.
8:00 a.m.: Set Sail via the ICW to Masonboro Island, off the coast, or across Snow’s Cut to the Cape Fear River. You’ll have opportunities to perform tasks of sailboat crewmembers or just relax and enjoy the ride. John will lead a discussion about coastal conservation.
10:30 a.m.: Return to marina. Event will last about four hours without shade. Light-colored, loose-fitting clothing recommended. Filtered water for your bottle and healthy snacks provided.
Please do not bring disposable plastic bottles or bags. Plastic contamination on our beaches and in our seas, which is consumed by sea life, is a problem we take all precautions to avoid. Neither disposable plastic bottles nor bags will be permitted on the beach or onboard.
Registration: Please register with Robards Nautical LLC; 6 registrations maximum.
Registration fee: $99 for non-members/$89 for federation members (with 20 percent donated to the North Carolina Coastal Federation)
