Southeast Coastal Ambassador Meeting: We the Water

July 27 @ 8:00 am 11:00 am

The We the Water initiative is entering its 2nd year in its effort to paddle the entire North Carolina coast. Members of Wrightsville Beach Outrigger Canoe Club are paddling the crystal coast to advocate for clean water, empower local communities, bring awareness of contamination and protect the most vital element of our lives: water.

The second leg along the central coast will kick off in September 2023. Roughly 100 miles, this journey will tell the story of the North Carolina coast – from threats and risks to solutions and triumphs – and how we can all make a difference in protecting and restoring the place we call home.

Join us on Thursday, July 27th from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. to learn about outrigger canoeing, the We the Water initiative, and how you can be involved. The program will start at 8 a.m. at the Southeast Office of the Coastal Federation. After a brief presentation, attendees will carpool to Wrightsville SUP where we will see the canoes up close and personal, and even get a chance to paddle in Banks Channel. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet if you wish to paddle (optional).
