Presentation on Seismic Surveying and Offshore Drilling featuring Peg Howell
March 28 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Please join Oceana, Surfrider Outer Banks Chapter and the North Carolina Coastal Federation for a presentation delivered by Peg Howell about efforts to conduct seismic surveying and offshore drilling along the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Peg Howell is a founding member and spokesperson for the grassroots organization known as SODA – Stop Offshore Drilling in the Atlantic. Peg is now retired but was the first female offshore rig supervisor in the Gulf of Mexico when she worked for Chevron in the late 1970s. Her presentation will cover her experience as an oil rig supervisor, discuss the impacts of seismic surveys and review the geology of the Atlantic OCS with a focus on the potential availability of hydrocarbons along the Manteo Prospect with a Q&A session afterward. This event is free to attend.
