Plastic Ocean Project’s Grand Opening

Join the North Carolina Coastal Federation on Saturday, September 21 to celebrate the grand opening for the new office, research lab and art studio for the recent Pelican award recipient, Plastic Ocean Project. Festivities will run from 12 p.m .- 6 p.m. beginning with a free, relaxing and restorative yoga session at 11 a.m.
Visit the federation’s booth to support a coast free of marine debris while we celebrate the grand opening of Plastic Ocean Project, an award-winning nonprofit that creates art from collected waste, leads record-breaking research initiatives and implements innovative solutions.
Special guest, Charles Moore, author of Plastic Ocean and founder of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, will be joining the celebration at 1 p.m. for a special presentation regarding his most recent journey to the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. He captains the foundation’s research vessel, the Alguita, documenting the great expanses of plastic waste that now litter our oceans.
