- Including: guest presentation by award winning author, Rowan Jacobsen, from 5:15-5:45 p.m. in the Daily Planet Theater and legislative reception from 6:00-7:30 p.m.; and
Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, Raleigh, NC
- Explore the economic and environmental returns on investing in N.C. oyster restoration, enhancement and production.
- Update the Oyster Blueprint for Action to rebuild N.C.’s oyster habitat, stocks and fisheries, and improve the state’s coastal water quality and economy.
- Discuss prioritized scientific challenges to implementing successful oyster restoration strategies in N.C.
Elected officials, economic developers, fishers, educators, interested people, scientists, resource managers, and shellfish growers involved in establishing public policy, research, monitoring, managing, growing, and harvesting oysters in N.C.
Guest Speaker and Legislative Reception
Rowan Jacobsen, award-winning author of A Geography of Oysters and oyster connoisseur, will offer an energizing and lively discussion about oysters from 5:15-5:45 p.m. in the Daily Planet Theater, just prior to the Tuesday evening Legislative Reception.
