Marsh Planting Volunteer Event at Carolina Beach State Park
June 26 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Volunteers are needed to help join the North Carolina Coastal Federation by planting thousands of marsh plant plugs in an effort to restore the natural salt marsh at Carolina Beach State Park.
The NC Coastal Federation, NC State Parks, and Backwater Environmental have partnered to restore and enhance tidal marsh habitat in a 13.5-acre highly disturbed area, dominated by early successional invasive species composed primarily of Phragmites. Backwater finished constructing a shallow slough through the site in April, and now an extensive planting of the site is needed.
This work will be physically demanding. You will be working in muddy and wet environments. No special skills or knowledge are required. You will receive the basic training needed. All project supplies and equipment as well as snacks and refreshments will be provided. Restroom and parking on-site.
