The federation hosted its inaugural “Cruise for the Coast” to celebrate National Estuaries Day on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Thanks to a beautiful day, we were able to fully appreciate the beauty of our coast and how our work helps to keep it that way. The event helped raise much-needed funds for our hands-on education programs. The boat was full, and our guests enjoyed cruising and exploring Masonboro Island while celebrating our diverse and productive estuaries. The participants report having a wonderful time and greatly enjoyed the boat, food and activities. Support from the event sponsors, including The Veggie Wagon, Mellow Mushroom, Winner Boats, Carolina Ocean Studies and Richard and Sandie Cecelski helped make this possible.
