WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – Peter and Cathy Meyer, authors of six well-known books, including the widely used Nature Guide to the Carolina Coast, will speak at the N.C. Coastal Federation’s Fred and Alice Stanback Education Center in Wrightsville Beach on Oct. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Meyers are coastal naturalists and writers. They share an insatiable curiosity about and affection for the coastal environment. They have been walking, exploring and studying coastal beaches together for over 30 years.

For the past three years, the Meyers have been coastwalkers, hiking all the ocean beaches in North Carolina and in many other places. They have compiled those adventures in Coastwalk North Carolina, an electronic book that tells the story, in words and pictures, of their 425-mile hike of North Carolina’s barrier islands.

The Meyer’s presentation will cover their trek of the entire N.C. coast, which includes 21 barrier islands. They will provide insights on their journey and share some of the interesting things they discovered along the way.

You can register for the talk at the federation’s education center, 309 W. Salisbury St. in the Historic Square at Wrightsville Beach, or online. The program is free for federation members and $10 for nonmembers. You can also register on the night of the talk.
