Help friends and neighbors clean up the White Oak River!

WHEN

9 am to Noon: Members will clean up pre-assigned zones.
Noon to 1:30 pm: Join volunteers at BoonDocks in Stella for a picnic, a drawing for prizes and share "fish stories" of what you found during this year's Big Sweep.

WHY

To make the White Oak River litter-free (and to have some fun doing it!)

WHO

Volunteers from the White Oak River Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, the Crystal Coast Canoe and Kayak Club, Stewards of the White Oak River, Carteret County Boy Scouts, the Cape Lookout Coastkeeper Corps, the White Oak Bluff Homeowners Association, the North Carolina Coastal Federation — and anyone who wants to join in!

WHERE

Volunteers are needed from Maysville to Swansboro — up and down the White Oak River, its islands, shoreline, and along roads and land around the river. We'll send out a reminder prior to the clean up with meeting place and time to pick up your supplies.

WHAT TO BRING

Mosquito repellent, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, comfortable (old) walking shoes, and drinking water. If cleaning by water bring your own kayak, canoe or boat and all safety equipment.

WE'LL SUPPLY

Garbage bags, gloves and lunch.

All participants receive a coupon from Ronnie's Bike Shop
in Cedar Point for a free day bike rental.

The North Carolina Coastal Federation (NCCF) is the state's largest nonprofit organization working to restore and protect the coast. NCCF headquarters are located at 3609 Highway 24 in Ocean between Morehead City and Swansboro and are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The headquarters include NCCF's main offices, the Cape Lookout Coastkeeper office, a gift shop, Nature Library, Weber Seashell Exhibit, ShoreKeeper Learning Center, and adjoining nature trail.
