Take A Wednesday Walk with the
COASTKEEPER®

Ocean, NC – Visitors to Bogue Banks this summer can explore the natural wonders of the shore on free weekly beach walks with the NC Coastal Federation's Cape Lookout COASTKEEPER®.
Coastkeeper Frank Tursi, a former journalist who has written extensively about the NC coast, will lead the walks, which will start each Wednesday at 10 a.m. – weather permitting – from the public beach-access area in Salter Path. The first walk will be on June 5, and the programs will continue through Sept. 4.
Participants will watch a short video from the back of Frank's truck and then hike a mile or so along the beach where they will learn about how waves and wind constantly reshape the beach, one of the most dynamic and violent environments on Earth. They will also learn about sea turtles, and hunt for mole crabs, coquina clams and the other creatures that live at the water's edge.
To register for one of the walks, call the Federation office at 252-393-8185. You can also register on the group's website, www.nccoast.org, or by email at nccf@nccoast.org.
